The taped based packaging solution is called "Tape on Reel". This packaging method makes fully sense in a completely automated production process. The components are carefully positioned in a pocket and secured into place by a soldered plastic foil. Finally this tape is rolled on a reel. The taping process is done according to EN 60286-3.

Through Hole Reflow Processes

The PLUGCON THR compatible headers from RIA CONNECT allow up to 30 % savings on production processes. The use of the PLUGCON headers together with the corresponding pluggable RIACON and SPRINGCON terminal block is a clever solution for flexible connections in the electronic surroundings of the printed circuit boards. PLUGCON headers can be processed together with other SMT components during a reflow soldering process thanks to their THR capacities. RIA CONNECT also has a PLUGCON header product line available for automated component insertion as a "Tape on Reel" solution. Important data concerning the soldering process:

• Do respect the norm for the surface mounting techniques EN 61760-1.
• The PLUGCON headers are made of standard raw materials which resist to the temperature allowed by UL94 V0 norm and are sufficient for holding a maximal temperature of 245 °C for maximal 90 seconds, exception of Type 18/28.
• The THR compatible PLUGCON headers (Types 176, 177, 178, 179, 188, 189, 190 and 191, other types available on request) can hold a maximal temperature of 290°C during maximal 90 seconds.
• The best THR and SMT soldering results can be obtained for components with a maximum of 8 positions. Over this amount, we suggest you contact our Sales department for more information on the subject.
